U11's beat the battling Brewers!

First of all the district round-up. This weekend the Mini Pitmen fielded 6 players in the Rhymney Valley district teams in a cup competition v Bridgend Schools U11's. The Mini Pitmen in the A-team put in a very good shift, despite the team losing overall. Well done to Morgan Bell for being selected as Man of the Match for the A-team. The Mini Pitmen in the B-team also played fantastic. The result of this game was much closer. I say it every week, but the Mini Pitmen are playing some extremely good rugby. Again, the boys did us very proud, not looking out of place on the district stage. I'd even go as far as saying they are excelling in this environment. Well done to everyone involved.

On Sunday we travelled to Rhymney RFC to face their U11's. We split into 2 teams to play our familiar opponents. Throughout both games Rhymney were strong at the breakdown and stole our ball on several occasions. The Mini Pitmen seemed to be a little hesitant in getting to the ruck and protecting the ball. When we did have the ball, our passing skills were fantastic and we run in many really well worked team tries. There were also occasions where our defence excelled, keeping the Rhymney try scorers at bay. By the end of both matches, the Mini Pitmen were just too strong for Rhymney.

At the end of game 1 the score was RHYMNEY 0-30 PENALLTA

At the end of game 2 the score was RHYMNEY 0-45 PENALLTA

A great result by the Mini Pitmen and what was even more impressive is that we knew we weren't playing our best rugby. A bit of breakdown work in training this week we think boys!!!!

Our player of the week this week is Connor Elsbury! Well done Connor and well done to the rest of the Mini Pitmen.

Try scorers: Connor Elsbury (5), Ieuan Smythe (2), Harvey Watkins (2), Cai Wardman (2), Evan Burridge (1), Efan Betts (1), Cameron Foreman (1), Ivan Miles (1).

Next up- Senghennydd (TBC)
